Catching Lightning Bugs & Shoes

The other night the kids went outside to play and catch lightning bugs. It was so funny watching them but Bailey finally got the hang of it. She was so proud she caught one. Jesse was smacking them like he was trying to kill a gnat or something. But the downside of catching fireflies is that you also catch ALOT of mosquitoes! Poor Jesse has bites all over his legs.

Ok now for the shoes part...Jesse came in the house after being outside a few minutes and said his shoe was wet and he needed to change it. So he did. He took his blue croc off and put on his little orange shoe. I mean why would you change the other croc it was perfectly fine! Makes sense to me!

Sara's Visit

Last weekend, Sara came for a visit with her mom and dad (my brother and sister-in-law). The kids had a great time playing together. Not that this house is ever quiet but I don't think there was a quiet moment all weekend with all the giggles and squeals going on! Cousins!

Jesse and Bailey walking to the pool. Aren't they cute? I didn't even tell them to hold hands. They just did! So sweet!

Growing Up

Bailey loves to dress herself. Sometimes she does a good job and sometimes well she looks like...a hoont. Can't explain hoont...you just have to know. She loves to wear skirts and dresses and wears them most days. I do try to redress her before we go out of the house but some days it is not worth the battle and this was one of those days. So dressing yourself is a sign of growing up!

Yummy!

You never know what my kids are going to like because sometimes they are a little picky. And Bailey is more picky than Jesse. But the one thing Jesse really likes is guacamole. He loves it when I make it because he helps me push the buttons on the food processor. And then he sits there eating it until dinner time. So glad he doesn't always just eat with his eyes!

Seafood! Ha ha! remember that joke growing up!

Plastic or Paper?

Well actually neither. For about a year now I have been using the cloth type bags the grocery stores sell for a dollar a bag. I got tired of going to the store and having a bazillion plastic bags to cart home! The bag boys would put about 3 things in each bag and then get out a new one. Plus I hate having all those plastic bags taking up space in my cabinet just waiting to be used again which they rarely ever are. These cloth bags can hold so much - I can usually get all my groceries in about 4 bags. And not to mention the green side of it which isn't why I do it but it does help. Plus they are pretty sturdy. I've been using mine for almost a year and I've never had one break and I pack a lot of groceries in them. I can put two gallon milk jugs in one and they still hold. And they are much easier to carry than those little plastic bags.

At first it took me a few times to remember the bags when I went in the store but I started setting them in the seat next to me to help me remember and when I finish with them at home I hang them on the door so that when I go to my car next I can take them with me. I have several bags mostly from Publix but I also have a Target (from my sister), Toys-R-Us (also sister), Georgia Aquarium (free), Atlanta Botanical (also free), White Stores(also sister - she's into the bags too!). I also take them into other stores like Lowe's, Walmart or Kohl's and at Target they give you 5 cents off your total for every reusable bag you bring in. It's not much but hey it's 5 cents. At most stores they only cost $1 and sometimes at Publix they have a coupon to buy a certain product and then you get a bag free. So give them a try you'll be glad you did! Go Cloth! (or whatever they are called!)

National Donut Day

Last Friday was National Donut Day and Dunkin' Donuts and Krispy Kreme were giving away free donuts. Although at D.D. you had to buy a drink. So we thought we would head to D.D and get a donut! Both kids got chocolate of course, their favorite. It was a fun, something we don't do everyday treat.
