iyi bayramlar!

Yesterday was Cumhuriyet Holiday. So there were lots of flags out as usual. And then we had a firework show last night that you could see from our house. Actually we had one Saturday and Sunday night. I tried to take pictures and get a little video but it's not so great. If you just heard the video and didn't know that it was fireworks you would think a war was going on.

Also yesterday on the way to the mall we saw this RV. It was oddly decorated so much I needed to take a picture. I can't figure all the stuff out.

Tyring to get out

I put Bailey down for a nap today and walked back in her room a few minutes later to see if she was going to sleep and found her like this...

First Backwards now Circles

Bailey is learning that she can move her hands and her legs at the same time. She is almost crawling but not quite. But she is turning around in circles! It's so funny. She turned around in a circle about 4 or 5 times this afternoon in a row. So she is trying to go somewhere! She has also learned in this past week to go from her belly to her bottom. I haven't caught it on video but she does it all the time. She does it a lot in her bed when it's time to go to sleep.

Our good friend Amy came for a visit this week. It was good to see her and hear all her stories about India. While she was here we had to go to tea again!

A Visit to Eastern Turkey

This week we took a trip to Van. Van is located in eastern Turkey about two hours away from the Iran border. It is also close to Mt. Ararat. We didn't get to see it but we did get to see some other mountains close by. Van is also famous for it's Van cat. This cat is special because it has two different colored eyes. It was nice to see a a different side of Turkey. But the best part of the trip was spending some time with good friends. We stayed with our friends, Jackson and Sheryl. They have a little girl, Klaire, who is three months younger than Bailey. She is a cutie. They had lots to talk about - hair, their crazy parents, etc. We also got to visit with Stephen and Sara and then Jonathan and Stephanie and their two boys Ethan and Dunloe. It was a great trip.

Pooper Scooper

As you can see in this video Stephen is trying to change Bailey's diaper. It's quite comical. Mommy had to come in and finish the job because he coudln't get all the poop. Poor thing he tried. At least he didn't gag. Byron and Derek were trying to be supportive and help him out but I think they laughed more than they helped!

Bailey is trying to go somewhere or do something but I'm just not sure what.

Bailey and Landon

This week we had a visit from the Byrd's. Since Bailey and Landon are the same age it was fun to see the different stages they are in. Landon is crawling everywhere while Bailey is still content to sit there. Bailey is much more vocal though. Maybe that's because she's a girl! Little boys and little girls definitly make different sounds. Bailey makes squeals and screams while Landon makes little grunts. Landon wasn't too sure of Bailey's noises at times. They were a lot of fun and lots of entertainment for us!

Race For The Cure!

Some of you may know that October is Breast Cancer Awareness month. There is probably not one person reading this blog who has not known someone with breast cancer. The facts I am about to share come from The Knoxville Affliate of Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation. Breast cancer is the most common type of cancer among women in the U.S. About 211,240 cases of inavasive breast cancer will be diagnosed in women this year and 40,000 women will die from breast cancer this year. There are over 2 million breast cancer survivors alive in the U.S. today and the number of deaths due to breast cancer seems to be declining! Praise the Lord!

I have a very dear dear friend, Kim, who has battled breast cancer for 4 years now. Kim is one of those survivors! Thank the Lord! We give him all the glory for healing Kim and continuing to allow her serve Him on this earth. This month there is a race in Knoxville to raise money to find a cure for breast cancer. Please pray for a cure. And please pray for Kim. Pray for her as she gets her team ready to walk and raise money. Pray God would give her strength.

We serve an amazing God! He is the God who heals every disease!

You can also check out her blog at www.kimpossiblejournal.blogspot.com. Once on her page you can go to the "Race for the Cure" post and click on the title to see Kim's fundraising page.

7 months old

Yesterday Bailey was 7 monts old! Everyday with her is so much fun. We will probably need to be reminded of that in a couple of years and then during the teenage years! We are blessed to have such a sweet daughter.

Thanks Adeline for letting Bailey borrow your walker. She really likes it. I think we are going to have to buy one for her!

Special Friends

We were surprised by a visit from two special people this week Tom and Marie. Tom and Marie did our premarital counseling. They have taught us many things about a good marriage and we are so very grateful for them. Bailey sat with Mr. Tom all night. He kept saying, "Mandy is going to be so jealous!"

I put Bailey in her hat and she pulled it down over her face. She was so funny trying to play with it over her eyes!

Sultanahmet

As you know this month is Ramazan. Every year in the old part of the city, Sultanahmet they have kind of a festival/fair type thing every night to kick off iftar. They have booths set up selling everything from candy to soap. There are also lots of outdoor cafes to eat or drink tea. A friend and I went one day this past week so here are a few pictures. Sorry they are a bit blurry.
