Happy Birthday Jesse!

Two years ago today we made our way from Asia to Europe headed to the hospital because Jesse was ready to come into the world! We had to dodge the Euraisa Marathon hoping we didn't run into any traffic. After making it to the hospital Jesse was born about six hours later. Life with a little boy has been quite different but a blessing every minute! We love you Jesse! Happy Birthday!

Today we had a Thomas the Train party. I didn't make the cake like I normally would because of everything else going on! But Jesse loved it as you can tell by the pictures. Black icing is very had to get off! I don't recommend it for a toddler's cake. We had a small party with Billy's mom and two friends. Another friend was suppose to come but she decided to go into labor so we thought that was a good excuse. Hopefully she will have that baby girl soon! Anyway Jesse had a great party. He loved blowing out the candles and kept saying "do it one more time." So we blew candles out a couple of times. I think he is going to definitely keep us on our toes during the "terrible" twos!

Sister and Brothers

Today I got them all together to take a picture! And they were even all awake! Bailey loves holding Jack. I think she would hold him almost all day if we would let her. Jesse held him but didn't seem to interested. He was a little indifferent about it. He wasn't asking to hold him again like Bailey was. Anyway here they are!

Stand Still!

Well I tried two times yesterday to get a good picture of the kids because they looked so cute. But both times they wouldn't stand still or look at the camera. So this is as good as it gets! Can't wait til I'm trying to take a picture of three kids running around!

Jack's first half bath

I wouldn't say it was a real bath when you can't be immersed in the water so Jack just got a sponge bath yesterday. He wasn't to fond of it.

Saturday

On Saturday's the kids and I wear our orange to cheer on the Volunteers. Every time Bailey sees the color orange she says "look there's TN!" So cute. They like watching some of the game yelling "Go big orange!" or "Go Tennessee!" They are so funny! But they will be Tennessee fans!

Jack Bennett Johnson

I must admit that this birth has a little something extra special about it. So often what is really important is taken for granted. I am so blessed to be here with my wife and and healthy baby, and to have the unbelievably beautiful family that I do. Jack means "believer in a gracious God," and Bennett means "blessing." God is good! Jack came into the world today weighing 7lbs 14oz and he is 20 inches long. We can't wait to show him off to the world but until then these pics and videos will have to do.

October 19 is the day!

October 19 will be Jack Bennett Johnson's birthday! We will be at the hospital at 5am tomorrow to have this baby boy! Due to my gestational diabetes the doctors don't want me to go over 39 weeks and since this baby boy hasn't already come on his own then we are going to help him out. I think he might be a little like his sister. He is content and seems to want to stay longer. Pray for the doctor and a safe delivery. We will keep you updated!

Atlanta Turkish Festival

Today we went to a Turkish Festival and it was so fun! We had a good time speaking and listening to Turkish, tasting yummy homemade Turkish food and shopping at a little bakkal! At the bakkal we got a few things like beyaz peynir, kasar (I know, weird), Camlica, yufka, baklava (that came all the way from Istanbul), Krem Santi, nar syrup and a couple of Ulker candy bars. These aren't things we necessarily crave but it was fun to see and buy them! And some just brought back good memories. We also got to eat some ispankli gozleme, tantuni, mercimek kofte (it was so good, but not as good as Sertap's!), sarma dolma and kiymali pide. All were quite good. Made us really miss home. Once we got in the car though we were pretty tired. It's been almost 2 years since we've talked that much Turkish so it was like the first few weeks of living in Istanbul when your brain was fried after going to language class or trying to talking with your neighbors! We will definitely make this a yearly tradition. And they also have an Istanbul Center here where they have language classes and cooking classes. So we plan to go after the baby comes and everything settles down.

I was just going to get the kids picture but Billy and I got dragged into it. Oh well it was fun!

Pumpkin Patch

A couple of weekends ago we went to a pumpkin patch. The kids had a good time seeing all the baby animals. Jesse kept calling the piglets - puppies. Oh well he'll learn one day. They also liked walking through the field and picking up the little baby pumpkins but they did not want to have their picture taken. And if we go back to this place next year we will know to just pick up the baby pumpkins because the big pumpkin daddy picked out cost us by the pound! Lesson learned. Next year by your pumpkin at the grocery store.

Babies, Babies, Babies!

This picture was taken on August 15 but I just go it the other day or I would have posted it sooner. But here are me and my friends, Debbie and Holly, who are sisters, at their baby shower. Debbie had her baby last week. Little Joshua came about a week early lucky Debbie. I still get a little jealous of first time moms who's babies come early since mine was two weeks late! I think all first babies should be late!

My little bakers

The kids love to help me cook or bake. As you can imagine they are quite the helpers. I have to remind myself that messes can be cleaned up! Bailey has had a little pink apron for a while but Jesse didn't have his own until last night. We finally found one at this mall we went to and the apron actually has a monkey on it! So it was perfect we had to buy it. Tonight they helped me make pumpkin bread. I hope it's good because we are giving it away to some friends!
