Shopping for Gold

Bailey and I went shopping for gold today. Yes that's right gold. As we told you earlier we are going to a wedding on Sunday, Burcin and Husnu's. Tradition in Turkey is to buy the couple something gold like a bracelet or a coin or give them money. So we opted to buy them a gold bracelet. As much fun as we had opening all our wedding gifts - it would be nice to get both of your arms covered in gold and money pinned on your dress and tux! We will take lots of pictures on Sunday to share with everyone. But here are the pictures of today's shopping trip and our side trip to visit daddy at his office.

Do you believe this?

Zaman Daily says:

According to new regulations issued by the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality, all taxis in Istanbul will have to be equipped with air-conditioning, airbags, and GPS (Global Positioning System) by the end of 2007, or else they will be banned from taxi work.Of the 18,000 taxis currently operating in Istanbul, 11,000 are still without air-conditioning. The new regulations are intended to bring Istanbul into line with regulations in European Union countries...

Ok for those of you who live in Istanbul or have lived in Istanbul do you believe this will ever happen? ok even if they do all get air condition do you think they will ever use it? I've yet to get in a taxi with the air on! and GPS tracking? come on give me a break! I'm not sure they even make a Tofas with air conditioning and especially one with GPS! And even if they are banned do you really think that will stop them from working?! Hmmm....let's see since they already obey all the other "laws". I love this city!

Our Invitation

Last night our friends Burcin and Husnu dropped by to deliver their wedding invitation. In Turkey the wedding invitations are hand delivered by the bride and groom or their families. Can you imagine?! They said they delivered about 350! I think that probably took some time. Not something you do in a weekend or even in one week! Anyway their wedding is Sunday, July 2. Good thing we knew it was coming and didn't already make plans! But we are looking forward to sharing this special day with them. We will post pictures of their wedding next week.

Mommy finally caught me!

For about 3 weeks now I've been able to roll over but mommy hasn't caught me on video until now. I was too fast and so by the time she got the camera ready I had already turned over. It was fuuny! She and daddy are happy I can roll over but they just wish I could roll back over! But they will just have to wait! (that line is for you Rindy and Teri!)

High Tea at the Ritz

Today Bailey and I had High Tea at the Ritz Carlton with our good friend, Amy. Amy is moving to another country in August so this was our last tea with her. We are going to miss her. Amy and I go to tea together about twice a year and so we had to expose Bailey to the finer things of life. This tea was special because they had two chocolate fountains. As you can see Bailey had milk instead of tea but one day she can have the full experience. We will miss you Amy! I hope you find a tea buddy in your new city!

Trying to Relax

I couldn't resis taking Bailey's picture at bath time. As you can see as soon as I put her in the tub she sits up and won't lay back to enjoy it and relax. She also holds her legs up so they don't touch the water. I have to push them down in there to get them wet! She doesn't cry but she is still not too sure about it at first. Then I have to pour some water over her and then she begins to settle in. But it is too funny with her sitting up! I just laugh and laugh!

Bailey is 3 months old

Yesterday, June 8, Bailey was three months old. It's hard to believe! She is growing like a weed! It is so fun to see how much she has changed. To date she has the smiling down, talking, rolling over and of course crying! One day last week I put her down on a blanket on the floor to take a nap while I went took a shower. As I was getting out I could hear her crying. I went to check on her and she wasn't on her blanket! It scared me at first but I knew she was there somewhere! She had scooted and rolled over to the couch and she was half way under it! So needless to say I don't lay her down there for a nap anymore! Anyway she is a blessing and a joy!

Fun in the Sun!

Today Bailey and I went to the pool with our friends, Andrea, Adeline and Staci. Getting there wasn't so easy but it sure was fun seeing them in those cute little swim suits! I'm sure you will agree it was worth it! And it was also fun for me and Andrea to get out of the house! The water was a little cold so we just stuck our feet in. Hopefully it will be warmer the next time we go because Bailey and Adeline both cried the first time their feet touched the water!
