Hiking

The other week we decided to go hiking and have some fun. It was a rare Saturday when we didn't have soccer because of spring break so we went for it! We haven't been really hikers but as the kids get older it is easier to do. Not as much whining from them like, "my feet hurt" "how much further" "are we almost there" you know comments like that that make it SO much fun for the parents! We are for the most part past this and we can all enjoy the hike. Thank goodness!

Camping

In September during our fall break we decided to go camping with some friends. We had never taken the kids camping before so we weren't sure what to expect. We went to Cloudland Canyon State Park and rented a yurt for a couple of days. We had so much fun! The kids loved being out in the woods and within the first hour of us being there they were able to see a doe and her buck out side our little yurt! We took hikes, saw a beautiful waterfall, roasted hotdogs and s'mores and laughed a lot! We will definitely be doing this again!

An Apple A Day

Back in September we decided to go to an apple orchard and pick some apples. We had never done this before and I was really looking forward to. I love to make an apple pie in the fall. Bailey and Jesse enjoyed it but Jack was worried about being stung by a bee. So needless to say it wasn't a grand ol' time! But we had fun and picked lots of apples and bought lots of apple goodies from the apple store!

An Apple A Day

Lately Jack has been eating his fair share of apples especially if someone else is eating one! He is a little moocher.

Here he is helping daddy eat his apple.

California

At the beginning of August, right when school started, Billy and I had the chance to go to California for the week. I got my kids up on the first day of school, got them ready, put them on the bus and then said see ya in a week! Thankfully no one was going to Kindergarten because that would have been terrible to send them to school for the first time and I'm not there but they weren't so I didn't feel too guilty about it. :) Anyway, back to California…Billy did really well last year selling insurance and so he earned a trip Orange County, California. We were excited to explore more of CA plus we got to see our friends! We took a day and went to Universal Studios, we went whale watching one morning (but we didn't see any whales), we met up with two sets of friends and got to hang out with their families, we got to sleep in and oh, we got to see Aerosmith! Front row seats! Pretty cool!

Here are a few pictures from the week:

This was at Universal

We started watching "Parenthood" this summer and have caught up to the current season.  We were excited to see Adam and Kristina Braverman's house!

This was the city hall in "Back To the Furture." They took the clock off for another movie.

The waves are HUGE on the west coast! And the water is freezing! I'll stick to the Atlantic.

Our sweet friends and their babies…

More friends…so good to see them again! We knew both of these guys before they were married. Fun to see how much life has changed for them!

10 Years

Last year was our 10th anniversary! I know and I'm just now blogging about it! We decided to do something fun and different. We flew to Seattle spent a few days and then rented a car and drove down the coast to Los Angeles. It was beautiful! A little chilly which I was not expecting in July (yes our anniversary is in November but we celebrated early to have good weather). We loved stopping in little towns and seeing the country. It was just gorgeous on the coast. 10 days was not nearly enough time but we had to fit it in. We also got to see some good friends from our time in Istanbul and that was really nice to catch up and see them in a different setting. Anyway, hard to believe it has been ten years. Blessed and thankful to be on the journey together!
